Soil Solver – creating the soil for the future - We are in a drying climate. The sand forming the base of most of the gardens in Perth is unsuitable for long term growth, it retains nothing. Improving with organic matter is only a short term solution. There is only one long term and sustainable solution, adding clays and silts as a permanent amendment to the sandy soil.
Encephalartos kisambo - Encephalartos kisambo is a majestic fast growing tall cycad which can reach up to 4 metres trunk height, and can grow multiple stems. Its dramatically erect leaves can grow to 2 metres long, making it one of the most spectacular cycad species.
Encephalartos sclavoi - Knowledgeable cycad collectors consider this plant to be one of the most distinctive and handsome cycads.

NGINA Awards of Honour

A night of magic and excitement surrounded the Nursery and Garden Industry NSW & ACT (NGINA) annual end of year celebration and awards dinner. Held at the Epping Club on the quintessentially intriguing dateline of 11/11/11, it saw the bestowal of three special NGINA Honours and presentations to all State and Territory award winners in the NGIA 2012 awards. It also marked the end of an era with a farewell to retiring CEO Mike Skegg.
